Yellow Orchid Co. is an event planning and floral design company. We pride ourselves in being a small business with a big heart. For us, it’s the quiet details that make a loud impact. We’ll go the extra mile to make sure that all aspects of your event are covered. We hope to meet you soon! #wellhelloyellow

Meet the owner
Ruth Chodniewicz founded Yellow Orchid Co. after more than 20 years planning conferences, events, and concerts in the corporate and nonprofit sectors. She also has experience organizing weddings and parties as a private consultant. After studying in Austin, Texas, she became a certified floral designer, and has designed flowers for weddings, funerals, corporate events, and personal celebrations.
Ruth resides in beautiful Chester, New Jersey, the same town where she was born and raised. She’s close enough to walk to the shop, which she often does with Togo, our CPO (Chief Puppy Officer)! She is most fulfilled being Mom to two children, Cece and Brayan, adopted with love from South America.

Passion for our craft
At Yellow Orchid Co., we love dreaming up an experience and bringing every detail to life! We think outside the box to add elements of surprise and wonder to events. Big fans of checklists and spreadsheets, we keep projects on time, on task, and on budget. (Yes, the boring stuff matters!)
We have a unique style, both in events and floral design. We value earning the trust of our clients and the freedom to create and inspire.
Ruth and her team enjoy meeting new people and hearing their stories. After all, we tell their stories by creating memorable experiences that reflect them. We strive to serve our community with warmth, professionalism, and kindness.
Where we work
We serve event clients in New Jersey and the surrounding states of Pennsylvania, New York, and Connecticut. We have select availability for national and international destination events, with a preference for the Caribbean, if we get a vote.
We work out of our shop at 38 Main Street, Chester, New Jersey. Chester is a quaint, historic town settled in 1779. While modernized over two centuries, this town still retains its adorable Stars Hollow charm, boasting family-owned farms and eclectic antique shops. Tourists come to Chester for its craft fair, peach festival, antique car show, carnivals, and Taylor’s Ice Cream parlor (try the mint chocolate chip!).
